Several people on the Google polyphasic group on this article have convinced me to try Everyman on my first attempt rather than Uberman. Even though it will probably lead to several weeks of sleep deprivation, it is both more practical to my current life condition (I should be able to function to a degree during adaptation) and also less risk (there are very few documented successful Uberman cases, while there are a lot with Everyman). Its going to be a huge change of life for me as I am accustomed to sleeping whenever I feel like it (my favorite time is the afternoon) and then up half the night. Often times I am too wired to go to sleep right away at nightime, which puts me off schedule and then I don’t function so well. Everyman has 90% of the benefits of Uberman, I can always try Uberman later, and the trial will surely go better if I am already adapted to Everyman. I am very curious about Uberman but I don’t think it’s the right time for me.
I feel very good and settled by this decision, which has the added advantage of getting me totally off caffeine (I need a very compelling reason to do this).
